Guest Testimonials

What a unique houes and beautiful location!  We had the beach all to ourselves and even though it has been very foggy, we enjoyed it very much. We had some nice days also; tooled around a bit and saw and explored some great places. The area is so beautiful around here. We would love to come back to Francis Louis House and explore some more!

We fully enjoyed our week at Castaway Ocean Lodge. As experienced cottage renters this cottage was fully equipped including those small kitchen items like mustard and ketchup, spices etc. While we did not use the hot tub or kayaks, they were there and available. The view was magnificent from the deck and it was fun to explore the rocky shoreline. Problems with the internet were resolved. The location is wonderful for exploring both Lockport and Shelburne areas. While there was only two of us and our dog there was more than enough room for more people. Great week away in a wonderful setting.

Francis Louis House is an architectural gem of a house, great location, great setting. The weather was warm and sunny. Went to Carter's Beach and Louis Head Beach-beautiful. Hope to come back and visit Nova Scotia again-a great vacation.

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse

This stunning photograph taken by Chuck Doswell (www.cdoswell.com) captures beautifully the clarity of light and the waters surrounding Peggy’s Cove.
by David Dyck, Alberta, Canada

Description

Certainly, Nova Scotia's, and perhaps Canada's most famous Lighthouse, Peggy's Cove lighthouse was erected in 1868 to mark the eastern entrance to St. Margaret's Bay. Peggy's Cove is a small picturesque fishing village that surrounds a narrow ocean inlet, which provides safe haven for boats during the Atlantic's rough weather. The lighthouse built on the large smooth wave washed granite rocks is the crowning feature of this beautiful Atlantic cove. You can walk over the huge boulders to enjoy the splendid view in all directions. There is a Post Office inside the lower level of the lighthouse where visitors are able to mail their post cards. There is a restaurant and gift shop for meals and souvenirs. This is a very popular tourist destination. We have found that it is best to visit the lighthouse either early in the morning before the tour busses or late in the day after the crowds have disbursed.
