Guest TestimonialsWe're both architects so it was a particular pleasure to stay in a cottage that we had seen published. Bay Bluff Cottage is beautiful! We wish more people were building contemporary cottages and the site is gorgeous!
This was our first trip to Nova Scotia and we enjoyed every minute of it. This log house turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more. The view, the firepit, the kayaks, the waterfront were all perfect! Thanks for a great family memory.
Nestled in a beautiful location and only a short walk from Carter's beach (which looks almost tropical). Sea Star Cottage is perfect for honeymooners or a large family. Would definitely recommend it for a relaxing and refreshing vacation!

LocationA Blue House is located on a sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean and in the village of Louis Head. To get to the beach, it is a delightful one-minute walk along a grassy path that winds its way through a wildflower meadow. The sandy beach is over two miles long, making it an excellent location for many outdoor ventures, including swimming, beach combing and bird watching. The sandy beach and protected cove are also ideal for launching a kayak or canoe.15 minutes away Lockeport is the closest town to this cottage. Lockeport is known for its Crescent Beach - a stunning scimitar of white sand approximately 1.5 km or 1 mile long. Lockeport hosts a number of festivals and events during the summer months: Canada Day Celebrations, Harmony Bazaar Festival of Women in Song and the Lockeport Sea Derby. The Canada Day celebration is always on the first of July, Harmony Bazaar typically takes place on the last weekend in July while the Sea Derby is usually on the second weekend in August. Crescent Beach Centre hosts the Sea Derby and a number of family events, such as the Beach Bash. Also worth investigating is Nova Scotia's only Registered Historic Streetscape, made up of five houses built by descendants of Jonathan Locke between 1836 and 1876. The houses offer an interesting cross section of historical architecture with excellent examples of Colonial, Georgian and Victorian styles. A walking-tour guidebook is available at the Little School Museum, which displays artifacts from early settlers. 25 minutes away, Shelburne is a charming and historic town set on a truly spectacular harbour. The harbour is unspoiled by industry or shipping and is used primarily for recreational activities like sailing and boating. Shelburne hosts a number of festivals and events over the year: Lobster Festival , Founders Days, Writers Festival, the Whirligig & Weathervane Festival, and Pumpkin Festival. The Lobster Festival is usually held on the first weekend in June. The town wide yard sale is also on this same weekend. Founder’s Days takes place on the third weekend in July. The Shelburne Writer’s Festival is hosted by the Osprey Arts Centre and typically takes place on the first weekend in August. The Whirligig and the Pumpkin Festivals are fall festivals that take place on the third weekend in September and first weekend in October. The Shelburne County and Dory Museums are worth visiting. When John Williams established his dory shop in 1880, it was part of a dory-building industry, which at its peak, included at least seven shops along the Shelburne waterfront. During the early part of this century the shop employed five to seven men and produced 350 dories per year. The museum has a workshop where Dories are still built to this day (albeit not in such large quantities!). AmenitiesRates

Your kind hospitality was really appreciated as well. We hope to be back again.”"Being a life long Nova Scotian I'm always amazed at being able to find a new experience in your home Province. The combination of the character of the Blue House, beautiful views from the living and dining room windows and daily strolls on the nearby beach and waterways helped make an enjoyable week for the whole family. " G. Olsvik, 2010 "The driving and cottage instructions were perfect and very useful. The binder and folder left on the table with the cottage information and local sightseeing activities were very important in making our stay a successful one with our children. Fantastic and endless fountain of information." A. Coulombe, 2011 |

old wharf. We took a lovely walk along that fabulous beach-left toward the mouth of the harbor. A great place to visit at low tide. Afterwards we rode down to the end of St. Catherine's River Road, stopping to view the marsh before the big curve near the end of the road. We saw an adult bald eagle atop one of the scraggly tall spruces!
