Location
Collupy Guest House is perched at the top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Allendale bay on Nova Scotia’s Lighthouse Coast. It’s a three-minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean and a 5-minute drive to Lockeport’s stunning Crescent Beach.
Description
The Collupy Guest House is a beautifully restored gothic revival, 1850's Sea Captain's house, with a large private garden. Set on a hill, this delightful vacation rental has a nice view of Allendale Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. A nature trail leads from the garden to a salt marsh wetland habitat where a variety of sea birds including Ospreys and Great Blue Herons reside. Across the road is the “Collupy Walking Trail” that leads to a private picnic area on Allendale Bay. With rounded beach stones along the shore it’s the perfect spot for beachcombing.
This stylish, charming house features high ceilings, tall baseboards and hardwood floors throughout. Large windows flood the rooms with light, while muted paint colours and tasteful artwork adds to the overall elegance. Downstairs is a small fully equipped kitchen, living room, semi-formal dining room, 4-piece bathroom, bedroom and a utility room with laundry facilities and upright piano! Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a small sitting area with a chase lounge and view of the ocean and fantasy playroom that will delight both the young and the young at heart.
Furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques, artwork and modern pieces, the house pays homage to its history. One of the bedrooms has a retro theme with faux braided-rug linoleum flooring, 50’s/60’s furniture and some funky 60’s lamps. This fun room is a tribute to the family who bought the house in 1962 and kept it until the present owners purchased it in 2003. Local artist, Rebecca Tudor has decorated the main entrance, bathroom and kitchen backsplash with her own custom designed, handmade ceramic tiles.
Situated on a private 6-acre lot, the cottage enjoys views of the ocean and the lighthouse. The garden has a fire pit, hammock, lawn chairs, picnic table and propane BBQ. A versatile vacation rental, this house is elegant enough for the discerning couple, while playful enough for any family with children.
Just 10 minutes from Lockeport with its beautiful beaches and 35 minutes from Shelburne, with its restaurants, shops and other conveniences, Collupy Guest House is nicely situated to explore the Lighthouse Route. Yarmouth is a 1 ½ hours away; while Halifax, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Peggy’s Cove and Digby are all pleasant day trips.
This cottage has a Sunday-to-Sunday rental period.
