As first guest of the year at the Castaway Ocean Lodge, we were very happy to find a warm, fully stocked and clean beautiful getaway home. We relaxed and enjoyed beautiful sunsets, sunrises and a full moon positioned perfectly over the harbour. We expolored Lockeport and loved the tiny windows in the roofs; a gorgeous white sand beach. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay and feel at home.
We had a wonderful week in Shelburne at Ocean's Tranquility. This house is truy a very special place and is named appropriately-very tranquil indeed! We enjoyed the quiet and sense of isolation. The screened porch was the favorite part of the house for us. Although the water was cold, we enjoyed our dip at the Crescent Beach. We will always remember our first trip to Nova Scotia and how very much we enjoyed this house.

Beautifully furnished with an interesting blend of art and antiques, Chinese pottery, rich wool rugs, and comfortable pieces, the house is a pleasing mix of traditional design and modern amenities. From the moment you walk in to the main foyer and see the two living rooms with matching fireplaces, you will be captured by the style and spirit of the Samuel Fairbanks House. With rooms to spare, the main floor features a well-equipped main kitchen as well as a smaller butler’s pantry. There is a large formal dining room for entertaining and a couple of smaller seating areas for casual meals. Both of the living rooms and the charming study feature wood burning fireplaces and luxuriously soft furnishings that envelop you in relaxing comfort. There are four large bedrooms and four full bathrooms. All three of the upstairs bedrooms have en-suite washrooms; two of these bedrooms have king size beds, while the third has a queen size bed. All the bedrooms are tastefully furnished with hotel quality beds and bed linens, rich rugs, nautical paintings, antique chests of draws and plenty of closet space. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed. There is a 4-piece bathroom with built in laundry facilities a little way down the hall. The two king size bedroom has 4 piece bathrooms attached with a soaker tubs and separate showers. Outside a deck overlooks the garden and provides a private outside space for entertaining. Located in a leafy neighborhood with the Simeon Perkins House and the Queens County Museum for neighbours, this graceful property is a gentle stroll to boutique shops, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, galleries and the Astor Theatre.
