Red Head Retreat has been the best house our family has rented yet. It is a quaint cape cod that was perfect for our family of four. We loved the most the open layout on the main floor with only the center staircase being any obstruction. The back wall is filled with windows giving a 180 degree view east and north of the ocean - incredible morning sunshine to sit, read and enjoy a cup of coffee (amazing sunrises!). The had a large deck with two rocking chairs and a grill - a table would be beneficial but we ate our breakfasts in the morning sun on the floor of the deck. We would have spent more time in the yard if it weren't for the ticks which happened to be bad this summer (we needed to get a flea and tick collar for our dog beyond her monthly treatments which did the trick). Even though there are a few house next door to Red Head, we didn't see a sole the entire week. We enjoyed the adventurous walks hopping along the boulders on the shore (no beach but a great one less than 10 minutes away, Roseway). Again, we had the vast shoreline to ourselves to explore. Red Head was truly a treat away from the hustle and bustle of our busy DC lives. Thank you for sharing your comfortable home with us. Even on cloudy days, the house always felt bright and airy, especially the fantastic sun room. We appreciated the tide clock as going to the beach became the center of our days here. Such a lovely place.
We had a wonderful stay at Neptunes Rise. The location and house are even better in person. The house was very clean when we arrived and had everything we needed. It is perfectly located and close to many beaches. We were thrilled by how private the property was. We really enjoyed morning coffees on the deck looking at the water. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and the house was very well equipped for her. That was a lovely surprise. We would highly recommend staying here and look forward to going back!
Maybe we are the first Sandy Lane cottage renters to write about this beautiful cottage, if so, I'll write some things I'm sure will become redundent soon. What a breathless perfect place. The building, views, breeze, wildlife and BEACH! WOW! It is humbling to experience a place where such care and passion has been placed to create a sanctuary in a rare and delicate envrionment. Thanks to the owners and Sandy Lane for the wonderful opportunity to experience it!

DescriptionNewly renovated and tastefully furnished, Harbour Tide House is warm and inviting. Painted in muted tones and decorated with nautical accents, the house captures the essence of East Coast living. It's ideal for couples or families who want to explore, sight-see and then come home to a well-designed, peaceful retreat.The ground floor has a spacious kitchen, a large living room, separate dining room, cozy reading nook, queen size bedroom and a three piece bathroom (with shower). Upstairs are two additional bedrooms: the large Master bedroom has a king size bed and the smaller bedroom has a single bed and a play pen for youngsters. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need; including a dishwasher, a pot for cooking lobsters and a fish steamer. The living room has a comfortable seating arrangement, wood burning fireplace, and a smart TV (Apple) for movie watching. The dining room is large enough for seafood feasts and family gatherings. The reading nook is a delightful bonus. With a chaise lounge, it is the perfect spot to escape for an afternoon nap. There are laundry facilities in the basement. Outside, a large garden with a private deck with patio furniture allows space for reflecting, watching the colourful fishing boats go by, reading and cooking on the propane barbeque. The cottage is situated on an oceanfront property with views of and direct access to marvellous Port Mouton Bay. The bay is tidal and there is direct access to the water from the cottage for launching kayaks at high and low tide.Carters Beach - probably the most beautiful white sandy beach along the South Shore - is about 2 minute drive or a leisurely 20-minute walk away. Other beaches in the area include Summerville Beach; Hunts Point Beach; South West Port Mouton Beach; and the Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct.
