Guest Testimonials

Orchard Point exceeded our expectations!! We had such an outstanding two-week stay. We hope to return for years to come. We chose this place to isolate (as per NS covid rules) with our 4 month old baby. We had so much room to roam safely, lots of quiet, serene rocky shore to explore, and didn't see anyone except for the neighbour once or twice. It was truly perfect! There were tons of amenities, games to play, noodles for floating in the ocean, and anything else you might need on a beach vacation. Falling asleep to the ocean waves and waking to the perfectly calm water and sometimes even the sunrise was amazing, and the stars were spectacular every night! We couldn't recommend this place enough.

Maybe we are the first Sandy Lane cottage renters to write about this beautiful cottage, if so, I'll write some things I'm sure will become redundent soon. What a breathless perfect place. The building, views, breeze, wildlife and BEACH! WOW! It is humbling to experience a place where such care and passion has been placed to create a sanctuary in a rare and delicate envrionment. Thanks to the owners and Sandy Lane for the wonderful opportunity to experience it!

Great value for your money! The location of the cottage is great and close to everything. We were able to go out for day trips and come back in no time. The kids loved, loved the beach and didn't want to leave on our last day. They asked if we could go back next year but for two weeks

An Idyllic Retreat by the Sea
We travelled with another couple to spend a week last June in this beautiful spot. The ferry from Portland was a ‘mini cruise’ and lots of fun. Landing at Yarmouth, it was a short hour’s drive to Orchard Point. The house, itself, is pristinely clean, and well decorated with a warm, antique feel, but very modern appointments throughout. With two large sunny bedrooms, and two bathrooms, the house is perfect for traveling with friends, couples, or a family with children. The house is situated at the edge of the ocean, on a point with water views from all sides. Sunrise and sunset were spectacular, and even the one rainy day we had was special. You can do as much, or as little as you’d like during a stay. The location is perfect for day trips to Nova Scotia Highlights, including The Bay of Fundy, Halifax, Digby, Gran Pre National Historic Site, numerous Vineyards (We had lunch at Luckett Vineyard overlooking the Bay of Fundy, where everyone gets to make a free call to anywhere from the old red phone booth —spectacular!), and of course, the famed ‘Lighthouse Route’. Only minutes away is the sweet and well preserved loyalist town of Shelburne, with its Saturday farmer’s market, picturesque docks and iconic yellow Dories, still made by master dory makers. We enjoyed nice meals at a number of restaurants in Shelburne, along with a lovely harbor cruise, where we were treated to a steak and lobster dinner while touring the coast. On a few days, we just enjoyed spending the day at the house — kayaking, beach combing, grilling, and of course, having drinks by the giant fire pit at night. Overall, my husband and I agree that our time at Orchard Point was one of the happiest and most relaxing weeks we’ve had in years. A very special place that we hope to get back to soon!
