Red Head Retreat was open, bright and clean as seen on the website pictures. Nicely furnished; fabulous views from interior and from deck. Lots of opportunity for walking and viewing nature. Our dogs loved it too. Pre-visit information package including driving directions were very thorough (use them not GPS for the last bit) Red Head is absolutely peaceful and relaxing. A wonderful place to get away from it all. Grocery stores are in Shelburne or Barrington Passage, both about 30 minutes away. We would certainly go back again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful spot with us - Moose Harbour View Cottage. The kids loved the beaches, rock climbing/hiking, seals at Keji, rabbits in the grass and simply playing in the wide open yard.
It has been a fantastic week in Nova Scotia in this so beautiful Maritimes. And, we truly enjoyed the cottage; very quiet, beautiful garden, well equipped and so clean the day we arrived. A home far from home. One of the few places you keep in mind for the rest of your life. We'd like to thank and express our praise to the owners to have built such a wonderful nest.
The cottage was everything we expected and more. It is way more than depicted in the website ad. the seclusion, beauty and natural setting were great. We hoped to return soon.

Carters BeachDescriptionOne of the nicest beach in the Liverpool area, Carter's beach is actually three beaches in one - all the beaches have slightly different orientations, so it is always possible to find a sunny spot out of the wind. The first beach you come to is a gentle crescent beach that is fairly shallow. It is boarded by sand dunes along the back. The next beach is a little rougher - it has a river that runs through it that is tidal. It is much easier to cross at low tide when it is about ankle deep that at high tide when it is waist deep. It is not a problem, but is definitely something to watch. When we went to the beach with our children (1 and 4) we played a lot in this river at low tide as the water was warmer and there were no waves. We love this beach.John and I went to Carter's beach on Canada Day in 2001. We were amazed. It looked like we had traveled thousands of miles to the Caribbean - the sand was white and the water turquoise. The illusion was broken when we dipped our toes into the ocean and realized that yes we were still in Canada! The water was not freezing, but it definitely was not tropical! LocationSea Star Cottage and Harbour Tide House in Port Mouton are the closest cottages to this beach.AddressPort Mouton, NSGoogle Map |
