It's old world charm and character, heightened by the scenic view have made for a relaxing vacation. We also enjoyed the wild blueberries! There were many visits by deer; a doe and 2 fawns!
It has been a fantastic week in Nova Scotia in this so beautiful Maritimes. And, we truly enjoyed the cottage; very quiet, beautiful garden, well equipped and so clean the day we arrived. A home far from home. One of the few places you keep in mind for the rest of your life. We'd like to thank and express our praise to the owners to have built such a wonderful nest.
We arrive here after a long drive. Francis Louis House is lovely and romantic; made us feel extremely happy and we rested very quickly before running down to the beach. When we got to the water, we were amazed that the sand actually is white! We looked around and we knew that we had found the perfect vacation spot. A little into our visit we wondered why people were crazy about the Bahamas and no so fanatic about Canada's hidden paradise. For the last three nights, we made bonfires and cooked our dinners on the beach. The coals looked like the sky's stars and the sound of the waves made it seem too good to be true. We really enjoyed our stay.

Carters BeachDescriptionOne of the nicest beach in the Liverpool area, Carter's beach is actually three beaches in one - all the beaches have slightly different orientations, so it is always possible to find a sunny spot out of the wind. The first beach you come to is a gentle crescent beach that is fairly shallow. It is boarded by sand dunes along the back. The next beach is a little rougher - it has a river that runs through it that is tidal. It is much easier to cross at low tide when it is about ankle deep that at high tide when it is waist deep. It is not a problem, but is definitely something to watch. When we went to the beach with our children (1 and 4) we played a lot in this river at low tide as the water was warmer and there were no waves. We love this beach.John and I went to Carter's beach on Canada Day in 2001. We were amazed. It looked like we had traveled thousands of miles to the Caribbean - the sand was white and the water turquoise. The illusion was broken when we dipped our toes into the ocean and realized that yes we were still in Canada! The water was not freezing, but it definitely was not tropical! LocationSea Star Cottage and Harbour Tide House in Port Mouton are the closest cottages to this beach.AddressPort Mouton, NSGoogle Map |

Harbour Tide House was beautiful, very accurate to the description if not better in person! Location is perfect, big garden and lovely view. Very close to Carter's beach. Would recommend for sure!
