Serenity at its best!
We fell in love with the area immediately! Sanderling Beach House has every convenience anyone could need for a perfect stay...and then some! The kitchen is fully equipped with small appliances, specialty utensils, cookware and dinnerware. There is plenty of room to accommodate more than 4 people at mealtime, sitting around the large centre island or at the dining/kitchen table. The rooms are comfortably equipped with quilts and extra blankets, if needed. We especially liked being able to BBQ at the house in the screened-in sunroom. There are plenty of Muskoka chairs to sit and laze around the deck or down at the beach. The white sand beach is magnificent! We walked it many times each day and felt like it was our own private beach. Very few people venture down to this area of beach from the public beach area, even though it is the best, in my opinion. It has the best view, clearest water, and no rocks. The tide comes in and out frequently so there were many sandbars for us to walk on and large ‘puddles’ to wade in. The water was quite cold, so we did not spend a lot of time in the ocean itself…we preferred the sun-warmed ‘puddles’ that were formed by the tide. (There were many jellyfish in the area, as well.) We thoroughly enjoyed the Beach House and were able to truly relax! We did boost our data plan so that family members could access email, etc., and then accessed Wi-fi when we headed into town, for groceries, etc. It was nice not feeling the need to be connected on our vacation. Thank you for the excellent accommodations! Castaway Ocean Lodge is away from it all in the most tranquill, idyllic spot in Nova Scotia! Our first view of your beautiful home was breathtaking and we've enjoyed every minute. Watching humming birds feeding, woodpeckers on the sateliite dish and Ospreys has been briliant. We've explored hidden coves and inlets from Peggy's Cove right dwon the South Shore to Yarmouth. We also visited Digby; the scallops were great! Driving through Kejimkujik we saw deer. The weather has been so good to us too; sunshing every day apart from Monday and even then it was really warm. Thank you so much.
This was our first trip to Nova Scotia and we enjoyed every minute of it. Castaway Ocean Lodge turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more. The view, the firepit, the kayaks, the waterfront were all perfect! Thanks for a great family memory.

DescriptionBeach Heaven House is a striking, modern beach house with a whimsical personality that is evident from the moment you reach the driveway. Look up and you will see some of Port Mouton's namesakes. The story goes that in 1604 Samuel de Champlain, the famous explorer (and later founder of Quebec City), anchored in Port Mouton`s protected bay to chart the Nova Scotia coastline. The sheep on board were so excited to see land that they jumped overboard and tried to swim to shore. All were lost, except for a plucky couple who made it and are now living on the roof of Beach Heaven House.Built in 2010, Beach Heaven is a contemporary design with floor to ceiling picture windows running the width of the house. Overlooking the Port Mouton Bay, the views are of blue skies, white sands and shimmering seas dotted with islands. Upstairs, the space is dominated by the sun-filled open concept, kitchen, living and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, a full selection of dishes, pots and pans, kettle and coffee maker (drip). The living room is playfully appealing with futuristic leather Leolux furnishings. The dining area has custom table. Patio doors lead from the dining room out to a solarium and from there to an upper deck that runs the width of the living space and features a couple of lounger chairs and tempered glass rails so as not to obstruct the incredible view. Adjacent to the living room is a sunny office with glorious ocean views. Beyond that there is a large master bedroom with two double beds. The room features a wall of windows that overlooks the beautiful sandy beach. Overhead skylights make it possible for you to fall asleep listening to the sound of waves while watching the night sky pass by. There are black out blinds if you are not an early riser. On the ground floor there is one other bedroom, a large media room, a small den and a utility room with laundry facilities. The bedroom has two twin beds that are configured into a king size bed and an ensuite 3 piece bathroom. The den has a pull out couch that can be used as an additional bedroom. It is from this level that you can access a small private courtyard with a screened-in sun room. Situated on a 2-acre oceanfront property, it overlooks the sparkling waters of Port Mouton Bay. A short stroll through the garden and over the dunes will take you onto Wobemkak beach. From here it's a short 10 minute walk to Carters Beach - famous for its white sands.There are 5 other stunning beaches in the immediate vicinity of Beach Heaven and all are easily accessible: Summerville Beach, Hunts Point Beach, South West Port Mouton Beach, Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct beaches and White Point Beach. Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct has a couple of hiking trails and abundance of wildlife. The picturesque town of Liverpool, once the privateering capital of Nova Scotia is just 10 minutes' drive from Beach Haven. We stayed Labor Day weekend and it was an absolutely dream. The weather was perfect. We got to enjoy the beach most days and the evenings were perfect weather for the hot tub and sauna. We knew at the time of booking we would love this property. The kitchen was fully stocked with every utensil/pot/pan you would need. There were things we forgot to bring and they had it there!
