The perfect oceanside vacation
A week at this Orchard Point was like a week in paradise. The house is very well built, and comfortably furnished with a great kitchen. The ocean, where you can swim from the rocks, begins right where the lawn ends. That is where both the sun and moon rise. It is comfortable all day in the breeze and stays warm though the night. It is private and feels secluded but is not remote; stores and all you need are close by.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage and in Shelburne! The only bad thing is to leave! We can't wait to come back.
Lovely renovated cottage in beautiful coastal location!
Red Head Retreat was open, bright and clean as seen on the website pictures. Nicely furnished; fabulous views from interior and from deck. Lots of opportunity for walking and viewing nature. Our dogs loved it too. Pre-visit information package including driving directions were very thorough (use them not GPS for the last bit) Red Head is absolutely peaceful and relaxing. A wonderful place to get away from it all. Grocery stores are in Shelburne or Barrington Passage, both about 30 minutes away. We would certainly go back again! |

DescriptionSapphire Cottage is a cozy two bedroom cottage overlooking the sparkling waters of Shelburne harbour. This welcoming home has a fully equipped eat in kitchen, a comfortably furnished living room, a separate dining room/office space, and a bright sun room that spans the width of the house and overlooks the front garden and harbour below.Painted in warm shades of creams and yellows and decorated with an eclectic mix of nautical decor this cottage has a friendly and cheerful disposition. The sun room has a day bed for relaxing and a small eating area for early morning coffees or afternoon aperitifs. A 3 piece bathroom with laundry facilities completes the ground floor layout. Upstairs there are two bedrooms; the master has a queen size bed and the guest room has a double bed and a 3/4 bed. Both rooms have views of the back garden and woodlands. The back garden is surrounded in woodlands and is private and features Adirondack chairs and a fire-pit. The front garden slopes gently down to the Lighthouse Route and Shelburne Harbour. More Adiarondack chairs across the road are the perfect spot for sitting in the evening watching the sun set. It is approximately an hour to Yarmouth and two hours to Halifax, with lots of interesting places to explore along the way.
